Dear friend, this morning's news carries a heaviness that touches us all—the passing of Jimmy Cricket, the beloved Northern Irish comedian who brought laughter to so many homes through the 1970s and beyond. At 80 years old, after a short illness, he slipped away surrounded by family, love, laughter, and songs. His loved ones shared how he kept cracking jokes right to the end, even with the wonderful NHS staff, showing courage, dignity, and positivity that inspired everyone around him. From his days as a Redcoat at Butlins to his own TV shows and radio series, Jimmy was a force for joy, making the world a sillier, brighter place. Jimmy's hope mirrored this truth—he looked forward to eternity, joking even as he neared heaven's door. Like him, we who trust in Christ can face our final days, or any trial, with that same assurance. Death cannot claim those who belong to Jesus; it's merely a passage to unending life.
